Positive Thinking & Affirmations
Positive Thinking. Why is that so difficult?
For the majority of people it is very challenging to be positive in general.
We tend to assume the worst is going to happen. That way when it does happen, we won't be disappointed. It's human nature to prepare ourselves for less than desirable outcomes.
But what if whatever you think about, or dwell on, came to fruition?
Think about it...
Do you know someone who is positive most of the time?
What is their life like? They seem to be pretty happy, right? Most everything goes their way; their life just works out so easily.
What about someone who is a negative thinker? What is their life like?
Put it this way:
If you think "crappy" thoughts; you're gonna have a "crappy" life!
Of course the opposite is true also. If you think up-beat and positive thoughts then your life is going to reflect that.
Which one are you? What kind of thinker would you like to be?
Of course we all want a happy life; and it truly starts with our thoughts!
These tips below are what have worked for me.
Positive Thinking Tip #1: Affirmations
Have you ever heard of affirmations?
It's the idea of making statements to yourself that you would like to be true.
Like:
- "I am happy" or
- "I am wealthy", or
- "I am healthy".
Get the idea?
The theory behind it is that if you say it enough, then you will start to believe it.
I've had some success with affirmations. But at the end of the day, I needed more. There were some statements I was using that I just wasn't believing.
Like: "I have an abundance of money". My mind would pop back at me and say, "Yeah, right. Get real".
I do believe that affirmations work! But I had/have certain beliefs that were too deeply ingrained for me to shake off. That's where the next time comes in!
Positive Thinking Tip #2: Afformations (not it's not a typo)
Afformations are very similar to affirmations. Actually they are affirmations, in a sense. Just in a different form.
They funny part is that you actually use them every day without realizing.
Have you ever done something that was kind of dumb? What did you say to yourself? The natural response is to say "Why am I so dumb?".
After a question your brain literally searches for an answer. You will find reasons that support your "why" question.
Afformations take that natural tendency to ask questions and put a positive twist on them.
Here is my affirmation that I didn't believe; "I have an abundance of money". To turn it into an affOrmation, I would make into a positive question. Here is what it turned out to be: "Why do I have an abundance of money?".
Pretty simple huh? Your brain will search for reasons to support your positive "why" questions.
Use them, and watch your outlook on life change! If you want to learn more
